Helping Clients Apply for All Types of Nonimmigrant Visas
If you want to enter the United States on a temporary basis for work or study, you will need to obtain a nonimmigrant visa. Likewise, if you want to hire an employee who is not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident or otherwise employment-authorized, your likely first step will be to sponsor him or her for a nonimmigrant visa. There are many different types of visas used in the U.S. immigration system, each of which has its own unique criteria and characteristics.
I am Richard M. Green, an immigration lawyer with more than a decade of experience guiding employers, individuals and families through the process of filing for temporary work visas and other nonimmigrant visas. Based in Huntington Beach, California, I serve clients worldwide.
Choosing the Right Visa for Your Specific Circumstances
Over time, Congress has created dozens of different types of nonimmigrant visas, each designed to allow a specific group of people to enter the country for specific purposes. The following are just a few of the most common nonimmigrant visas:
- E-1 and E-2 visas (treaty traders and investors)
- F-1 visas (academic students)
- H-1B visas (temporary workers)
- L-1A and L-1B visas (intra-company transferees)
- M-1 visas (vocational students)
- R-1 visas (religious workers)
All nonimmigrant visas are granted for a limited amount of time, though some types of visas can be renewed indefinitely as long as you continue to qualify. If you later qualify for lawful permanent residence (green card status) after entering the U.S., you can file for adjustment of status.
